Now you’re all set to hit the beach this summer but are you beach-ready? You might as well double check. Whether you’ll be heading to Newport Beach with friends, getting a golden tan in the Maldives, or sipping martinis while aboard a yacht in St. Tropez, it IS a must to always look good, prepared, and updated. Nothing beats a fresh face on the beach especially during summer.
Malibu Barbie
Everybody wants to be like Barbie, well who doesn’t? Let her be your inspiration! Copy her look to make heads turn at the beach. Barbie has long, bouncy, wavy, and shiny locks, so forget about tying your hair up. But do make sure that it is smooth and not frizzy. Now, your ultimate best friends are the bronzer and tanning lotion. These two are the perfect combo for creating the look. If you can’t take the heat of the sun, you might as well put on tanning lotion, or visit the nearest tanning salon in your area. Keep in mind that your goal is a golden tan, NOT orange (!) so don’t be trigger happy when applying. On the other hand, the bronzer is much easier to apply. But remember, less is more. You want your skin to appear silky, not oily. Flawless skin, a hint of blush, and an orange or nude lipstick, will complete the look.

If you’re tired of the bronze goddess look, you might as well bare your porcelain white complexion. Take note of the mantra “if you don’t have it, fake it.” Not everyone is blessed with flawless, rosy white skin, and if you’re dealing with skin problems like scars and blemishes, there are products out there in the market that will make your skin look spotlessly beautiful. What you’ll need are concealer (I personally prefer Ben Nye’s concealer palette), a nice coral-colored-blush, an illuminator (not bronzer). An illuminator gives you a frost effect that can be worn alone, while a bronzer can be used as a blush. For the hair, china dolls are usually seen with the classic bun. To give the look a different twist, why not braid your hair from bottom to the top and tie it in a bun? It’ll give you an updated hairstyle. Glowing is what you want to appear to be doing as a China Doll.

Try donning the barely there look. It might sound simple, but applying the no-makeup-look is actually hard to achieve. If you’re not keen on applying foundation, there’s actually a better alternative: the tinted moisturizer that works as a moisturizer and also covers up blemishes. But if you actually want to let your skin breathe, you might want to try Z-pore; it mattifies the skin and lessens the appearance of pores. Perfectly shaped brows enhance the whole look of the face. As for the eyes, try applying Urban Decay’s Naked or Naked 2 eye shadow palette. The colors of the palette will create the look you’re after. You can forget about applying lipstick, but never step out without a lip balm or lip conditioner. To complete the Bare Naked look, opt for big wavy curls, you can either pull it off with a clip, or a head band that makes you look effortlessly chic.

Think of the goddess Aphrodite when creating the look. What does she look like? Simply ethereal and captivating. Think of those two words and try to imagine her. She sends beauty and love. And that’s your bet this summer. Your natural beauty will attract love and send in the guys. Think of the colors pink, white and periwinkle, and grab your beauty kit. The look should be simple, but with a hint of mystery. Color your lids with a subtle blue color and add blush on the apples of your cheeks. Style your hair a la J.Lo in American Idol.
