How to Do a Nikki Minaj Style Make-Over

Want to peel yourself off the wall, Wallflower? And step out of your fashion comfort zone? If your answer is “yes” to both questions, the first thing you’d have to do is look around for a star who’ll serve as your fashion icon. Fortunately, you won’t have to look far. There are stars and pop stars who are adept at pushing the boundaries of fashion. And Nikki Minaj is one of them. At the back of your mind, you’re probably thinking that Lady Gaga is one fashion-forward artist depending from what angle you’re viewing her.

But, before you go down Lady Gaga Street bear in mind that Lady Gaga outfits cost a fortune to recreate, and you don’t want to break the bank for a little fashion experiment that’ll bring you out of your self-imposed shell. So, let’s go with Nikki Minaj, rap artist with one of the fastest rap tongue twister ditties, and self-proclaimed Harajuku Barbie. Harajuku, being a popular shopping haunt of the ever fashion-forward and eccentric Japanese youth.

What’s the first thing you notice about the eclectic female rapper? It would have to be THE hair which comes with a full fringe. You don’t think THAT thick straight hair which often comes in different colors is her hair, do you? Think how her hair would fry if she puts it through countless dye jobs? So, get yourself a wig. That’s going to be fun! It’s like trying on different personas and discarding those that don’t fit your style sensibilities!

It takes a certain intelligence to understand what trends and style would suit your fashion identity. And fashion identity is achieved only by someone who knows herself well. If we go by the Socratic principle that values knowing yourself, then we can say that a woman who dresses well and appropriately for her age and any occasion has her head firmly on her shoulders.
