Makeup Boo-Boos
Makeup enhances our features but it can also worsen our appearance if not applied well. But, it needs a lot of practice and requires continuous study. First thing that should be done is to examine your face and find your strong and weak features; and from there you’ll know where to start. Are you aware of the makeup blunders girls often commit? Pay close attention. You might turn out to be one of the fashion victims.
1. Foundation – Let me give you a scenario, have you ever experienced taking a picture and you find yourself or some else’s picture with a floating face? What do I mean by having a “floating face?” Well, that’s what we call a face that’s a shade twice or thrice lighter than the neck. Take a look at Ms Hilton’s face. Makeup application does have a “domino effect”; one mistake is committed and the rest of the face will also suffer the consequences.

When applying foundation, make sure to choose a shade that’s close to your skin tone. People usually test a foundation on the hands or back of the wrist, and if that’s the case, you’re already one step to committing a makeup boo-boo. Always test foundation on your jaw line so you’ll be able to figure it out right away. Know if you’re acidic or not, because if you are, you should choose a lighter shade, since the shade darkens in time. Also, consider your skin type so that the foundation will look natural. If you’re dealing with oily skin, the best option is to wear water-based foundation, and cream-based or oil-based foundation for dry skin.
2. Concealer – Even celebrities commit this makeup blunder. See Eva Longoria’s picture and you’ll get what I mean. Concealers are supposed to cover up or mask your flaws not expose it, that’s why it is called a concealer.

Don’t confuse correctors and concealers. Correctors are those with green, yellow, lavender and orange colors. They are concealers used to “conceal” blemishes on the skin. Correctors are used to cover up dark under-eye circles and red spots on the skin. Green correctors are used if you’re dealing with red spots or blemishes because it helps neutralize the redness. Yellow correctors are used to cover purple or bluish under-eye circles. Lavender, on the other hand, is used when you’re dealing with a yellow undertone to your skin. And, orange is best for dark complexions with even darker under-eye circles.
When applying concealer make sure to choose, or better yet, mix different shades to get your skin tone right. The wrong color of concealer will look horrible in pictures. Dab the concealer to prevent sagging skin, and brush off with a loose powder.

3. Feathered Lipstick – So what does it mean? It is when the color exceeds the line of your lips. It is considered one of the many makeup blunders since it makes your lips look unhealthy.

Feathered, chapped, or cracked lips become extremely visible as people get older, and that will look like a total disaster especially when lipstick is applied. The best way to prevent feathered lips is to exfoliate and regularly apply lip balm to help keep the lips moisturized.
4. Blush – Remember the saying “less is more.” Don’t be too trigger-happy when applying blush. The purpose of applying it is to give the face just enough color. Swipe only a little amount of blush. You can re-apply anyway, if you think your face needs more color.

Lindsay looks like a total mess here. You don’t want to look like a circus clown, do you? If you have dark skin, preferred shades are brownish pink or peach. Fair to very fair women would look slightly flushed in dusty pink shades. Asian women, on the other hand, should wear warm pink since they have underlying yellow tones. Again, “less is MORE.”
