What to Wear to a June Wedding
June is usually a month for weddings. And bridezillas everywhere are frothing at the mouth over THE perfect wedding. Fortunately, it’s not your wedding and you’re there to enjoy the festivities, imbibe the best wines, take in the romantic atmosphere, and look pretty. Possibly catch the eye of that hunky best man. A summer wedding IS one of the best times to look gorgeous. And as long as you don’t outshine the bride, and you observe summer wedding etiquette, you can experiment with gorgeous, breezy looks.
- Classy dressing is something to take into consideration when dressing for a summer wedding. You can go sexy but make sure the look is tasteful. You don’t want all the men at the party (including the groom) eyeing you like that juicy steak on your plate.
- Plus, you also have to be observant of the time and place. If the wedding is at noon, you can go with a summer dress.
- While cocktail dresses made of more luxurious fabric like satin and soft chiffon is appropriate for weddings after 5 in the afternoon. Picking the right color for your attire is also of utmost importance. The wrong color might violate wedding etiquette. For instance, do not wear white unless the bride specifies that you can. This has something to do with NOT stealing the bride’s thunder. You can wear pastel colors that reflect the summer mood: soft peach, melon, dainty lemon yellow, sheer apple green. You can also wear blooming colors like lavender, pink tulip, soft orange daisy. But you can also coordinate with the wedding’s color scheme, as most wedding planners make use of the color scheme to create an ambiance.
- If you are to wear black to a wedding as is sometimes allowed in western weddings, it’s to be done only during an evening wedding and has to include another color. Going with straight black for a wedding isn’t considered good etiquette.
- So you’ve got your choice of dress down pat, you’d have to find the right accessories to go with your look. For summer dresses, metallic sandals or pumps are the best footwear. Purses with the same dainty metallic look are also in order. Try not to go overboard on the “shine” though, you’re going to a wedding, not a club. For an indoor wedding you can wear stilettoes or strappy heels. But if it’s an outdoor wedding, wedges are more practical so you don’t have to be bothered with shoes that get stuck in sand or soil.
